Hi! My name is Luke Sherner and I am a student at the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science (AMES). I decided to come to AMES because I felt it would be a better learning environment than a public school and I could get a much better education here. I also saw all of the opportunities to get college credits with the connection to the University of Utah. I have taken college level/AP classes and plan to do so my next two years. I am glad I made the decision to come here, because I have noticed a big difference in the quality of education and the quality of the school itself. My teachers have been dedicated to teaching and preparing us for college, and I can tell that they care about our success.
I have always loved to learn and I know that learning should be a life-long pursuit. I also love to ski, hike, travel, be with my family, ride my bike, and just be outdoors in nature. My dad taught me to ski when I was just one year old and I have been skiing ever since. I have been on numerous hikes all over Utah and the whole country, including in Glacier National Park, Yosemite National Park, and here in the Wasatch Mountains. I have also traveled with my family to Canada, Brazil, and over 20 states in the United States.
